1. Norfolk Trash Pick Up 2024

From Monday to Friday, curbside garbage is collected. Here’s how to find your assigned day:

Keep in mind that the Department of waste management starts collecting trash by 7 am. So, ensure to place your cart on the curbside by then.

To Report Missed Collection: If you think your cart is not picked up by mistake. Call 311 or 757 -664 -6510 and talk to a representative. Before you report your issue, ensure that your cart was placed correctly and doesn’t contain any unaccepted items. 

2. Norfolk Bulk Pickup 2024

Bulk trash collection in Norfolk is provided on special request. All residents can request bulk waste pickup anytime around the year.

  • Only 12 collections are allowed.
  • The maximum limit is 3 cubic yards per collection.
  • Only 4 tires per collection or 12 tires per year are allowed.
  • Tree limbs and yard waste is also considered part of bulk waste.
  • Glass or windows must be placed in a 90-gallon bag with “glass” written on the bag.
  • You are subjected to pay a fee if your pile exceeds the 3 cubic yard limit.
  • You must request service by 3 pm prior to your regular curbside collection day.

Accepted Items For Bulky Pickup: Appliances, broken furniture, tires (4 max), broken glass or windows, hot tub, fencing, toilets, bathtubs, pools, and sliding doors are accepted.

Unaccepted Items: Construction debris, any sharp metal, dirt or sod, household hazardous waste, paint or chemicals, old motors, and cookware is not accepted.

The curbside recycling cart is collected every other week on the same day as your trash day. All recyclables are now collected by TFC recycling.

Accepted Items For Recycling: Flatten cardboard, food cartons, junk mail, paper, plastic bottles, aluminum, and tin cans. Apart from these items don’t put anything in your blue cart. Keep in mind that the recyclables must be placed loosely.

On holidays, the trash collection is delayed and pushed to the next day. Curbside trash service will not be provided on the following days:
