It is because the city is divided into two zones, i.e., North and South areas. Each area is assigned a specific day, from Monday to Friday, in each zone.

1. Mobile AL Trash Pickup 2024

The curbside collection begins at 7 am on your assigned day. Your trash day will depend on which side of the city you live in.

All residents are allowed to place 15 small bags or a 2 cubic yard cart on the curb. Every resident address gets two collection days per month. So, if you missed your garbage day, you’ll have to wait for the next fortnight.

Similar to North, the collection begins at 7 am. Keep in mind that if your trash cart is overfilled or has large items, you’ll be charged additional money.

Report Missed Trash Collection

If your cart is not collected and there is no ticket on it, report missed trash collection at the Mobile Public Works Department. Dial 251 – 208 -5311 or 251 -208 -2900 for requesting special pickup.

City Of Mobile Trash Pickup Rules

Do you know that breaking any trash rule can cost you over $532 as a fine? Well, I don’t want to frighten you, but it is true. Here’re the rules that you’re bound to follow:

  • Paint, construction debris, or sharp glass is not considered refuse.
  • Placing a cart on the curb prior to collection day will result in a fine.
  •  Your trash must be properly secured.
  • Keep the carts away from roads, water meters, and low-hanging branches.

Residents must remove the carts from the curb after collection on the same day.

3. Mobile AL Recycling Schedule 2024

All residents of Mobile, AL, can drop off recyclables at any of the following locations:

  • 4851 Museum Drive – City’s Western Administrative Complex in Langan Park.
  • 308 Pinehill Drive – Behind (to the North of) the Police Headquarters between Government St. and Airport Blvd.

Remember, the city doesn’t accept recyclables from commercial businesses or residents living outside Mobile City.

Plastic Bags, Ice Cream Cartons, Waxy/Paper Milk Cartons, Aerosol Cans, Juice Boxes / Bags, Garbage or Yard Waste, Garden Hoses,  Bedding or linens,  Construction Materials, Bubblewrap, Diapers, and Mirrors. 

4. Mobile AL Bulk Trash Pickup

The city provides a large trash pickup service for a charge. They usually collect yard limbs and small appliances.

  • TVs and flat screens can be recycled at drop-off locations.

Residents have to place items on the curb by themselves. You must clean the curb after the collection.
