  • Your weekly refuse and recycling schedule will be displayed

The collection begins at 6 am. You can roll out the carts at 6:30 pm prior to your trash pickup day if the carts are properly secured.

Where To Report Missed Trash Pickup In DC?

If you think your refuse or recycling cart was not picked up by mistake, report the missed pickup at 311. Usually, if the carts are not placed on time or as per rules, the service is not provided. In such cases, a ticket is issued.

But if you’ve put carts on the curb timely and as per the city’s government laws, the service will be provided within 24 hours after reporting.

  • Residents need to make a request 4 – 6 days prior to their collection day.

It is worth mentioning that hefty items weighing over 500 lbs will not be picked up. Mostly, the collection days are appointed on the next regular pickup days.

Only the grass, leaves, branches (cut into 4 feet), twigs, and pinecones are collected as yard waste. Dirt, solid waste, food leftovers, and tires are not collected. 

5. DC Trash Pickup Holidays 2024

The DPW observes 12 holidays in a year. The scheduled collection is delayed and pushed to the next day on holidays. There will be no pickup on the following days:
