1. Albuquerque Trash Pickup Schedule 2024

Curbside residential garbage is collected weekly. Here’s how to find your ABQ trash day:

• Navigate to the city’s official website (click here)
• Then, tap on “look up trash day by address”
• Type your address, and all relevant information will pop up

Keep in mind that the collection begins at 7 am. So, don’t forget to roll out your carts on the curb on time.

How To Report Missed Trash Pickup In Albuquerque?

You can report missed trash collection either by calling 311 or filling out an online form (click here). Before you report the missed pickup, ensure that your cart was placed as per the rules and on time.

• Roll out carts on time on your assigned day.
• The lids must be properly closed.
• All carts must be a minimum of 3 feet away from the road.
• Place your carts away from trees, mailboxes, and water meters.

2. Albuquerque Large Item Pickup Schedule

The city of ABQ provides free large item pickup service throughout the year to all its residents. To schedule your large items collection service, click here. If you need any assistance while requesting the service online, call 311.

• Requests can be made Monday to Saturday, 24 hours in advance.
• Contaminated items will not be collected.
• You must empty all the large containers or appliances before placing them on the curb.
• The freezer doors must be taped shut.

It is worth mentioning that, though there is no limit for the pickup, only a truckload will be collected. If any residents are found misusing the service, no special pickup will be provided then, in the future.

Before you hire any of the junk haulers, always request an early estimate. Usually, you’ll have to pay between $150 for a sofa removal by 1800 got junk. This may seem expensive, but private haulers charge based on the size and weight of your trash pile.

You’re expected to pay anywhere between $650 to $700 for a full truck. It is worth mentioning that some haulers might not accept dirt debris as bulky waste, so always ask about the accepted items list.

4. Albuquerque Recycling Pickup Schedule 2024

Recyclables are collected every week on the same day as your regular refuse collection day. You can find your ABQ recycling pickup schedule from the recycle coach app. 

• Always flatten the cardboard before putting them in the bin.
• If your bin is full, don’t leave items on the ground.
• Place the recyclables loosely in the bin.
• When confused, throw it away.

Keep in mind that recyclables mixed with unaccepted items will not be collected. A ticket will be issued and stuck to the cart explaining the problem if service is not provided. 

Accepted Items For Recycling

Plastic and glass bottles, mattresses, household furniture, lawn chairs, all types of paper, toilets, small appliances (without refrigerants), Food and beverage containers (must rinse and dry), and flattened cardboard.

Unaccepted Items For Recycling

Dead animals, any type of textile, food leftovers, heavy appliances (collected as bulk trash), yard waste, dirt, or construction debris.

5. Albuquerque Green Waste Pickup

During the spring season, green waste is collected from the curbside. This year the green waste will be collected from Monday, May 01, to Friday, May 12.

• Pack your green waste in trash bags.
• You must place it at least 5 feet away from refuse/recyclables.
• The maximum limit for each bag is 40 lbs.

Always cut the branches a maximum of 4 feet in size and make a bundle before placing them on the curbside. Dirt and gravel will not be collected.

6. Albuquerque Trash Pickup Holiday 2024

On holidays, there will be no curbside collection. The pickup is delayed and pushed to the next day on holidays. There will be no pickup on the following days:

• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day
• New Year’s Day

Remember, if the holiday falls on the weekend, then there are no changes in the residential curbside pickup. For example, on the Christmas trash schedule (Monday – December 25th), there will be no pickup. Monday collection will be pushed to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, and so on.
