1. North York Garbage Schedule 2024

Curbside residential refuse is collected every other week. The collection begins at 7 a.m., and each residential area is assigned a specific day. Here’s how you can find your North York trash day:

  • Your monthly trash, recycling, and green waste collection schedule will be displayed.

Keep in mind that you can only place carts outside a day prior to your collection day if your carts are secured with lids. Moreover, all residents are requested to set carts close to the road for easy access.

2. Get Your North York Garbage Collection Calendar For Free

Residents can also download the yearly trash collection schedule for free. Here is how to download your yearly garbage calendar:

  • Then, click on the “full year collection map”

This way, you’ll be able to download the yearly calendar for free. However, residents of East York can also get the calendar directly from the website. 

3. Report Missed Trash Collection

If you’ve rolled out carts on the curb in time, still your carts are still not emptied, you need to report a missed trash pickup. Call 311 and report the missed collection.

The service will be provided within the next 24 hours. Before you call, ensure that your cart doesn’t contain any household hazardous waste or unaccepted items.

4. North York Hazardous Waste Disposal

Residents need to dispose of household hazardous waste at the drop-off locations themselves. There are 3 locations across the city where you can drop the waste, utilizing self-service.

Keep in mind that no help will be provided at the drop-off facility. You have to dispose of all items yourself.

5. North York Yard Waste Collection 

From mid-March to mid-December, yard waste is picked up from curbside.

All residents are allowed to place up to 20 kg of yard waste by 7 a.m. on their regular trash collection day.

  • Pack your yard waste in paper kraft bags.
  • Store your yard waste on your own property.
  • Tie all brushes and make a small pile.

  • Green waste exceeding 20 kg will not be picked up.

Moreover, keep in mind that accepted items mixed with unaccepted items will not be collected. Residents have to pay a fine if any sharp object is found along the yard debris.

  • Rinse and dry all bottles before putting them in.
  • Ensure that the lid of the cart is closed properly if you want to place it on to curb prior to your collection day.

If you don’t want to deal with the stinky smell from your cart, ensure not to mix any liquid or leftover food particles. Moreover, your cart will not be collected if both accepted and unaccepted items are mixed together.
