So, let’s cut to the chase and find your trash day.

1. City Of Kenosha Garbage Pickup Schedule 2024

The city is divided into 5 different zones, with a specific day assigned to each area.  Residential garbage is collected once a week. Here’s how to find your Kenosha trash day:

  • Type your address and then tap on the search icon.
  • Your area-assigned day will appear with your location on the map.

Trash collection service starts at 06:00 am on your assigned day. If you missed your residential solid garbage pick-up, then you’ll have to wait for next week.

2. Kenosha Recycling Schadule

Recyclables are collected every other week on the same day as your regular trash pickup. For recycling, the city is divided into two routes, i.e. A and B. You can also download your yearly recycling calendar (click here).

  • Orange marked days are for route A
  • Green marked days are for route B

Here’re the 7 recycling rules every resident must follow:

  • The lid of your blue cart must close properly.
  • Recyclables must be on the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the assigned day.
  • Don’t mix your recyclables with the regular garbage.
  • In case of a violation, your cart will not be picked up.
  • Remove your empty or tagged carts from the curb by 8:00 a.m. the following day.
  • Don’t put bundled cardboard and plastic bags in the recycling cart.
  • Put Styrofoam in the trash.

Accepted Recyclables: Paper bags, whipped topping plastic tubs, aluminum, steel, tin, and bi-metal cans, catalogs, envelopes, file folders, glass bottles & jars, index paper, copy paper, magazines, soap bottles, plastic coded 1-7 and shredded paper.

Unaccepted Recyclables: Aerosol cans, aluminum pans, broken glass, cooking oil bottles, flower pots, gift wrapping or tissue paper, hangers, hardcover books, synthetic or heat-sensitive paper, motor oil bottles, Styrofoam, coated papers or boxes.

3. Kenosha Bulk Pick-Up Schedule

Bulk pickup is only available by a scheduled pickup. All residents can request a bulky schedule 4 times a year. The pickup limit is up to 5 cubic yards.

Usually, the large items are picked up on the same day as garbage pickup. You must call prior to one day at Public Works Department at 262 -653 -4050.

Keep in mind that additional bulk pick-ups over the limit of 4 can also be arranged by paying $50 in advance.

  • Only 30 bags per pickup are allowed.
  • Excessive items will not be collected.
  • Building and demolition material is limited to 10 bags.
  • No loose materials are accepted.
  • Cut paneling, plywood, drywall, and plasterboard into 4‘x4‘ pieces.
  • Don’t put yard waste and recycling in the bulk pickup.
  • Residents must clear the curbside by 08:00 am of the following day after bulky pickup.

4. Kenosha Yard Waste Pickup

Yard waste is only collected twice a year in spring and fall. Keep in mind that Wisconsin state does not allow yard waste in its landfills.

So, it is best to reuse your yard waste as compost.

The exact collection date is announced on cable Tv channel 25 every year. All residents must follow the law and put their brushes and brunch in a biodegradable bag.

  • The limit is 40 pounds per bag.
  • You must use City-approved biodegradable bags.
  • Don’t mix your yard debris with recyclables.
  • Only branches, garden plants, grass clippings, leaves, pine cones/needles, tree seeds, shrub trimmings, and weeds are accepted.
  • Don’t put cemetery wreaths, decorations, floral arrangements, cornstalks, rhubarb stems, tree nuts, and wood chips into your yard waste.

5. What To Do With Excessive Bulk And Yard Waste That Is Not Accepted By Kenosha Trash Department? 

If you’ve got construction debris or excessive bulk trash, still there’s light at the end of the tunnel for you. You can either hire private haulers or dump them at landfill sites.

1001 50th Street is open for your bulk damp on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
