Austin Bulk Trash Pickup

Mattress Pickup Austin: Mattresses are collected as large or bulky items. All residents can also dispose of it at a local landfill paying a small fee.

Acceptable Items For Austin Bulk Pickup: Doors, carpets, broken furniture, appliances without doors, maximum 8 tires, lawn mowers, pallets, rolled fencing, and nail-free lumber.

Unacceptable Items For Austin Bulk Pickup: Residential trash, household hazardous material, cardboard boxes, mirrors, motorcycles, trailers, boats, tires that are still mounted on rims and construction debris.

Austin Bulk Pickup Rules

  • All residents must place large items at the curb in front of their homes by 05:30 am on the first day of their scheduled week.
  • Bulky items must be separated into three piles, i.e., Metal items, Passenger car tires, and Non-metal items.
  • All piles should be at least 5 feet away from your mailbox, water meter, telephone connection boxes, or power lines.
  • Keep in mind that Austin Resource Recovery only collects items from its residential trash and recycling customers.
  • All Items will not be picked up if they are in an alley in any area.

Unlike the closest city Houston, brush and tree waste is only collected twice a year. The only good thing is that the city offers storm debris collection services. Now, all residents can request large branches and limbs collection by calling 512 -974 -2000.

  • Put all your large brush loosely along the curb in one row.
  • Don’t block the sidewalk.
  • Your pile must never be more than 15 feet across and no higher than 4 feet.

All residents can drop-off kitchen refuse, recyclables and large items at the recycling center or landfill.

  • The Recycling center is open, by appointment only.
  • At the center, you can drop off many items to be recycled, reused or safely discarded.
