What day is garbage day in the city of Prince George?

Curbside residential garbage and recyclables are picked up from Monday to Friday. The city is divided into five zones, and each zone is assigned a specific day.

So, your trash collection day will depend on your residential address. You might be thinking, how can I find my garbage day?

1. Prince George Garbage Day 2024

You can find your next PG garbage day on the city’s official website. Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to Prince George City’s official website (click here)
  • Type your address in the search bar
  • Your blue zone, garbage and recycling schedule, will be displayed

Keep in mind that the collection begins at 7 am. So, if you don’t want to miss your trash pickup, roll the carts out before that. You can also set out carts at 6 pm prior to your collection day, only if the cart is secured with a tight lid.

2. Download The PG Garbage Yearly Calendar

Residents can also download the yearly calendar for their convenience. You can also set a weekly reminder. If you opt for a weekly reminder, you’ll be notified either through system generated call or email 24 hours prior to your collection day.

Here’s how to download the PG trash calendar:

  • Go to the city of Prince George City’s website (click here)
  • Scroll and click on “Get collection schedule 2023-2024.”
  • You’ll be redirected to the pdf link (click here for direct access)

In the PDF file, there’s a city map divided into 5 sections. Each section has a different colour.  For example, green marked area collection day is Friday, while Monday is the assigned day for the yellow-coloured zone.

3. Report Missed Garbage Pickup 2024

If you’ve placed the cart out on time and still the service was not provided, you need to report a missed trash pickup. Call 311 or 250 -561 -7600. Before you call, ensure that you’ve placed the cart on time.

The city will investigate and provide service only if your PG trash pickup was missed accidentally. Usually, the service is provided within 24 hours after the reporting. Moreover, it is the duty of the resident to report the issue on the same day as their collection day.

4. City Of Prince George’s Recycling Schedule

Recyclables are collected every other week on the same day as your regular trash pickup. To find your next recycling pickup day, click here

  • Place your blue bin at least 2.5 feet away from the regular garbage cart at 8 am.
  • Flatten and cut the cardboard for a better fit.
  • Don’t put any food waste in your blue bin.
  • Pizza boxes with oil stains are not allowed.
  • Rinse and dry all plastic bottles before putting them in.

Keep in mind that animal waste or dead animals are not collected. Residents need to be careful while tossing recyclables in the bin. Moreover, your cart will not be collected if acceptable items are mixed with unacceptable items.

5. Prince George City Bulky Waste Pickup

Bulky items are collected on-demand only. Residents need to book an appointment first by calling 311 or 250 -561 -7600.

  • You need to place large items on the curb before the assigned collection time.
  • A fee will be charged for items exceeding 50 lbs. The fee will be determined on the spot.
  • Appliances with refrigerants must have the door removed.

Keep in mind that unacceptable items will not be collected, and residents need to dispose of them at the relevant disposal centers.
