1. Thornton Trash Schedule 2024

Non-hazardous household waste is collected every week. While the recyclables are picked up every other week on the same day as your trash day. 

Here’s how to find your assigned Thornton trash day:

  • Type your residential address and tap on the search icon
  • Your monthly calendar will appear with all the relevant information

2. City Of Thornton Bulk Trash Pickup

The city of Thornton doesn’t provide bulk trash pickup service. However, all city residents can request a special pickup by paying a small fee.

  • The minimum fee is $65 for 6 cubic yards of stuff. (2 pickup truck beds)
  • For 3 -4 pickup truck beds of junk, you’ll have to pay $109.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to pay any money upfront. The cost of service is adjusted on the next utility bill for payment.

3. Got Items That the City Doesn’t Accept? You Need To Hire Private Junk Haulers!

There are many local junk haulers that will pick up your trash at an affordable cost. Usually, they charge depending on the size of your pile, and you have to pay upfront.

4. Thornton Recycling Schedule


Recyclables are collected every other week. Apart from it, you can also drop off your special recyclables at any of the following locations:

  • Thornton Municipal Service Center: Located at 88th Avenue & Colorado Boulevard, open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. – 5 p.m
  • Infrastructure Maintenance Center: Located at 12450 Washington Street, open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Flattened cardboard, Magazines, Junk mail, Office paper, Cereal boxes, Soda boxes, Paper towel rolls, Phone books, Brown paper bags, Steel cans, Newspapers, Inserts, Empty aerosol cans, Plastic containers 1-7, and Glass bottles and jars.

For Oil Recycling!
For cooking oil recycling, drop of filtered oil in sealed plastic containers at Thornton’s Infrastructure Maintenance Center, located at 12450 Washington Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Unaccepted Items

  • Plastic bags
  • Styrofoam
  • Household hazardous material

Don’t place additional recyclables in a bag or place them at the top. The lid of the container must close properly.

5. Thornton Trash Holiday Schedule 2024

Your residential garbage pickup service will be affected one day on the following days:

Memorial DayMonday, May 27

Near Year’s DayWednesday, January 1

Monday collection on Memorial Day will be pushed to the next day and will be collected on Tuesday; Tuesday collection will be pushed to Wednesday, and so on.
