Republic Services collects residential garbage from the city. The curbside service is provided weekly. Here’s how to find your assigned collection day:

2. Toledo Recycling Schedule

Recyclables are collected every other week on the same day as of your normal refuse collection day. To find your next recycling collection schedule, click here.

Here’re the 5 key rules to ensure:

  • All the recyclables must be properly rinsed and free of food remnants.
  • Don’t sort out the recyclables.
  • All the items must be loosely placed in the cart.
  • Avoid placing the cart under trees, near water meters or allies.
  • No yard waste is accepted as recyclables.

As a rule of thumb, you must always place your recycling cart at least 3 feet away from the solid waste cart.

Accepted Items For Toledo Recycling

  • Glossy magazines and bundled newspaper
  • #1 and #2 frosted plastic milk jugs and bottles
  • Steel or tin cans and aluminum beverage cans
  • Clear, brown, and green glass bottles and jars

Plastic bags, ice cream tubs, yard waste, plastic toys, electronics, plastic bags, feed waste, motor oil bottles, and Polystyrene cups are not recycled.

A free bulk collection is available for all residents per month. You need to call 419 -936 -2511 to schedule your next free bulk pickup.

  • The items will be collected the next business day, followed by your regular trash pickup day.
  • Wooden items or branches must be bundled in 3’ x 4’, no heavier than 40 lbs.
  • Remove nails or screws from all the wooden furniture or planks.
  • Cut and roll your rugs no longer than 6’.

It is worth mentioning that you’ll be fined if you don’t follow the city’s issued rules and guidelines.

Accepted Items: Old furniture, outdoor furniture, appliances without refrigerants, limbs, and branches.

Unaccepted Items: batteries, tires, hazardous waste, major car parts, metallic doors, metal box springs, computer monitors, and white-ware items. 

4. Got Bulk Trash That City Doesn’t Collect? You Need To Hire Private Junk Haulers!

Don’t worry if you’ve got metal doors or large refrigerators, as the private haulers will dispose of them, charging a small fee. Usually, they charge anywhere between $500 to $600 for a full load of trucks.
