Curbside collection service is provided weekly, and each resident’s address is assigned a specific day. Here’s how to find your collection day:

  • Type your address in the search bar.
  • Your trash day information will appear on the left side under parcel data.

When To Place Your Cart Out?

Place your carts on the curbside on your assigned day at 7 am or by 3 pm the day before. Suppose your trash day is Friday. You must place the cart out by 7 on the same day but not prior to 3 pm on Thursday. 

2. KCMO Trash Pickup Holidays 2024

No service is provided on the holidays. The collection is delayed one day on the following holidays:

Now, on the coming Juneteenth holiday, the Monday collection will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup will be pushed to Wednesday, and so on.

3. Kansas City Bulky Item Pickup

Bulky item pickup service is provided by appointment only, without any additional charges. Appointments are scheduled to correspond with your regular garbage day.

How To Request KCMO Bulky Pickup?

Make an appointment either online by filling a form or by calling 816 -513 -1313. Keep in mind that you must make an appointment at least 48 hours prior to your next curbside collection.

  • Only 15 items per collection are allowed.
  • Items must be placed at least 10 feet away from the main road.
  • Residents are bound to clean the curbside afterward.
  • If you want to cancel your scheduled appointment, call 816 -513 -2855.
  • Unaccepted items will not be collected.

4. Got Large Items That the City Refuses To Pick Up? You Need To Hire Private Junk Removal Services.

Though many residents opt to rent a suitable size trash dumpster, but with a dumpster, you have to do all the hefty work. That’s why it is better to hire junk haulers. They will charge a fee depending on the weight of large items.

Some haulers won’t accept any appliance with refrigerant. That’s why it is best to consult them first before hiring them, as the early estimator is usually free of cost.

5. Kansas City Yard Waste Pickup 2024

The city collects leaves and brushes in the Spring and fall season. But, the curbside collection is limited to a few days.

Rules For Yard Waste Pickup

  • Leaves must be packed in sacks or bundles.
  • The weight of the bundle must not be over 40 pounds.
  • Use only paper debris bags.
  • No glass clipping is allowed.
  • Make a bundle of branches not more than 2 feet in diameter and no longer than 4 feet.

6. Kansas City Recycling Pickup

Recyclables are collected from curbside on the same day as your KCMO trash day. To find out your recycling day, click here

Here’s what you can recycle in Kansas City;

  • All types of paper
  • Advertising inserts and brochures
  • Carrier stock, including beer cartons
  • Plastic bottles labeled as #1 and #2
  • Aluminum and tin cans
  • Foil pans

Plastic bags, batteries, glass, scrap metal, medical waste, and yard waste are not accepted as recyclables. 

Kansas City Christmas Tree Pickup

After Christmas, all residents can drop off their real Christmas tree at the tree disposal or recycling drop-off site till January 15, paying a $5 fee at the following locations:

  • 5200 E. Red Bridge Road
  • Environmental Campus 4707 Deramus

All these drop-off sites remain open from 9 am to 5 pm, Wednesday to Saturday.

7. Is Kansas City Trash Pickup Delayed This Week?

Currently, there is no delay in the trash pickup services. Usually, the curbside collection is delayed one day only on holidays. Otherwise, the curbside pickup is always on time.

Wrapping It Up!

For many, the Kansas City trash schedule can be confusing. If you live in the MO state area, you’ve to follow the KCMO schedule. While you live in the Kansas State area, over the Patrick Mahomes shovel pass, you’ve to follow that schedule.

But, in general, residential garbage is collected by KCMO, and the residents have to follow the KCMO holiday schedule. Currently, there is no delayed pickup, but if you think your cart needs to be collected, call 311.
