There will be no garbage collection on Tuesday, July 4th. So, if your trash collection day is Tuesday, no curbside service will be provided. Tuesday collection will be moved to Wednesday, Wednesday to Thursday, and so on.

To start with, July 4th, or Independence Day, is a federal holiday. The 4th of July is a federal holiday since the 1870s.

In every State, county, and city, trash pickup is delayed on Independence Day. Now, you might be thinking that if service will not be provided, will you miss your collection day
The short answer to that is Absolutely NO! You don’t have to wait for the next garbage collection day as it’s a Federal holiday, and all services will be delayed and pushed to the next day.

When Will The Trash Be Picked Up After 4th July?

The short answer to that is right on the next day. Here’s how the weekly schedule will be managed:

  • Monday collection will not be delayed
  • No trash service on Tuesday (4th of July)
  • Tuesday pickup will be pushed to Wednesday
  • Wednesday collection will be collected on Thursday
  • Thursday pickup will be moved to Friday
  • Friday collection will be pushed to Saturday

So, don’t worry; you don’t have to hoard your garbage bin for the next week only because it’s a federal holiday. In all major parts, including Iowa, NYC, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, California, Texas, and Tennessee, curbside service will be delayed.
