1. Spokane Garbage Pickup 2024

The residential curbside collection begins at 7 am. Here’s how to find your weekly trash day:

  • Navigate to Spokane’s official website (click here)
  • Type your address in the search bar
  • All your essential information will be displayed

Keep in mind that you must put your cart to the curbside on time. Otherwise, your cart will not be collected.

Spokane Garbage Pickup Rules

  • All trash carts must be placed curbside by 7 am on your collection day.
  • Your green card must be at least 3 feet away from the regular refuse and recycling cart.
  • The lids must be closed properly.
  • The weight limit for carts is 200 pounds.
  • If you have extra trash, place it next to your cart, and it will be collected for an extra fee.

How To Report Missed Trash Pickup In Spokane?

If your cart is not collected or partially collected, call 311 or 509 -755 -2489, and service will be provided on the same day or the next day.

All complaints will not be entertained on Fridays, as the Spokane public works department is closed on weekends. 

2. Spokane Recycling Schedule 2024

Recyclables are collected every other week on the same day as your refuse collection day. To learn more about the recycling map tool, click here

  • Recyclables must be loosely packed.
  • Plastic bottles and glass jars must be rinsed before you put them in your blue bin.
  • Don’t put any type of liquid in the cart.
  • Always flatten the cardboard or food containers first.

Accepted Items: All types of paper, junk mail, glass bottles, plastic containers, cardboard, mattress, and box springs.

3. Spokane Yard Waste Pickup Schedule 2024

Yard waste and food debris are collected on the same day as your regular trash day. To find your yard waste pickup day, click here

  • Cut tree branches and trimmings into small pieces. 
  • Put leaves, grass, and other green waste into paper bags.
  • It is best if you use yard waste as organic compost.

4. Spokane Garbage Pickup Holiday Schedule 2024

Curbside services will not be provided to residents on the following days:

5. Spokane Bulk Trash Pickup

To find your bulk trash schedule, click here. Bulky trash services are provided to residents, but only the accepted bulky items and large appliances are collected. 

Accepted Items For Bulky Collection: Broken furniture, bed frames, grills, small household appliances, grills, and wooden pallets.

Unaccepted Items:  Dirt, yard waste, large appliances with refrigerants, tube lights, fans, and household hazardous waste is not accepted.

6. Have Bulk Trash That City Doesn’t Pick? You Need To Hire Private Haulers!

Private junk removal companies collect every type of trash, be it motor oil or large appliances, that the city won’t collect. Here’s the list of the top 7 junk haulers near you:

Keep in mind that these junk haulers will charge money based on the size of your trash pile. Also, it is best to ask about their services first before you hire them, as some haulers don’t pick bulky trash that can not be picked by two persons.

Wrapping It Up!

Residential trash carts are collected from the curbside weekly. The Department of public works and Sanitation starts collecting garbage by 7 am on your assigned day. 

Keep in mind that carts placed in the wrong way or overfilled will not be collected. The service will be delayed and pushed to the next working day on holidays. 

If your trash cart is not picked up by 9 am on your assigned day, call 509 -755 -2489 and report a missed collection. Service will be provided either on the same or next day.
